Monday 6th February – bike ***** Hemley Church to Martlesham Church – sunny with a light breeze.

With pretty much wall to wall sunshine and a light breeze it was the perfect day to head out on our bikes, I did my usual exercises while Mag did a bit of work in the porch. I then made lunch, we then loaded the bikes in the van, leaving home at eleven and driving the eight miles to park at Hemley Church. We took the lane past the church which soon turns into a track with stunning views down to the Deben, at Waldringfield Church we turn right taking the footpath and see Field Fares once again. Taking the quiet Lane towards Martlesham before taking the track across the fields leading to Martlesham Church. Not many purple irises but loads of snowdrops, we walk around checking out the flowers spotting some long-tailed tits before returning to the round metal seat to enjoy a very yummy chicken sandwich with a couple of friendly robins hoping about, it was lovely sitting in the sunshine in perfect peace and quiet:) Well rested we take the lanes back, the road was actually closed but we could get our bikes through OK although several cars had to turn around! At Waldringfield Heath we turned towards the BT tower before finding a great footpath leading to Newbourne with farmers harvesting a field of smelly cabbages. We bike through Newbourne play park where we have spent many hours with the kids we used to mind and across the wooden walkway with a buzzard overhead which leads to our van, it was only 9.60 miles but it was really brilliant enjoying the best that Suffolk has to offer:)
